The Strength of Self-Love

(Strength – Rider Waite Smith Tarot Deck)

I’m gonna love me

Today I woke up and I decided,  I’m gonna love me.

I’m going to do all the things with me that I want to do.

I’m going to take myself away for breaks, I’m going to stay at home with me and watch films, I’m going to love me.

I’m going to take myself out for lunch when I want to. I’m going to take myself shopping when I want something new.

I’m going to love me.

I’m going to support me in my dreams, I’m going to look after me when I’m sick.

I’m going to love me,  and when I’ve learnt how,  I’ll know what it means to have someone love me back

The card above is the ‘Strength’ card. Major Arcana in the Tarot.

I usually read this card as having the strength to deal with a trying situation, or person.

Think Beauty and the Beast – using love as a force for good.

I now have an additional reading of it: Taming the beast within our own self, and loving it.

When you have tamed the beast within, mentioned in The perils of Self-Sabotage, that feeling of not feeling good enough, begins to fall away.

Your barometer of what you will, and will  not put up with, naturally shifts and rises.

In fact, lots of crappy situations that used to be normal for you, will simply not enter your radar.

Such is the strength of self love.

Self love is not all about buying flowers for yourself, and long hot baths. Though it most definitely can include these!

Self love is an underlying determination to treat yourself, in the way you strive to treat others.

Jesus famously said:

‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’  – Mark 12:31

I don’t know about you, but I have always been struck, by how we are told here, to love ourselves.

Jesus tells us, in those few words, that we are all connected.

He tells us, that how you love yourself, can impact how you love another.

We will treat others, or allow others to treat us, in ways directly proportionate to how much we love ourselves.

Once you have nailed this fundamental truth, things begin to fall into place.

Much love Txx
